Get The Money Shot!

I hear many stories from DJ's and photographers who work with other videographers that just stand there and shoot video. Not me. I work like a dog to find and get those perfect shots that will forever capture the emotions of the day and help to tell the bride and groom's story. I may crouch down to get that perfect angle or shoot through flowers or a single lit candle to create an interesting composition. To me, it makes all the difference in the world. Below is an example some of the lengths I'll go through to get that "money shot"!

Chateau Elan wedding

I've had the opportunity to shoot at some wonderful venues, but I'm excited to announce that I'm shooting my first Chateau Elan wedding this weekend! I've always wanted to shoot there and am so excited that it's finally happening. It is such a beautiful place. What is so interesting is that I'm shooting another wedding there coming up in November, so maybe this is just the beginning.

Colorado Wedding

I'm very excited because tomorrow my flight leaves out for Vail, Colorado. I'm shooting a destination wedding there and I'm thrilled that I'll get to shoot somewhere that is so beautiful. It also helps that Ed and Carrie (my bride and groom) make a great couple. :-) I've never been to Colorado, so I know I'll be in for a real treat! This really is a busy week because I'm coming back on Friday and am turning around and shooting another wedding on Saturday here in Atlanta. It's a good thing that I love what I do.

Wedding Season??

Now that June is here, we're deep into Wedding Season! What an exciting time it is now for a wedding videographer. Staying busy is not a problem for me and the opportunity to capture a couple's big day gives me great satisfaction.

I've noticed now that June has come, I've been getting a lot of calls and emails for Fall weddings. As a result, I'm happy to say that those months are starting to book up, so if you're shopping around for wedding videography and like my handiwork, please don't wait to call or email. As a matter of fact, I'm starting to believe that here in the South (thanks to the mild Winters), there really is no "Wedding Season", weddings can be held all year. And if you're planning an outside wedding/reception, November is a much better month than July here in Georgia. Hmmm, maybe Atlanta's wedding season should be October/November/December. I like that idea. :-)

Bridal Elegance

I'm so excited that I was finally able to shoot my first "Bridal Elegance Video" on Tuesday with Fatini. We kept having to change the shoot date because of scheduling conflicts and weather issues, but we finally got in a beautiful shoot over in Piedmont Park. I can't wait to start editing this and Fatini and I are working on the perfect song selection.

Wedding season is fully upon us and my plate is officially full until August (Averaging 5 per month for the next three months). I've been blessed with a large amount of brides and grooms who love my wedding movies and want me to shoot their own weddings. I'm certainly not complaining!

One last thing, I got the nicest compliment from Ashley's Mom this week about the wedding I did for her daughter. She even called me a genius! I'll take that. :-) Right now, I have Ashley and Nelson's first and last dance on my website if you want to watch it...

Andrea and Rocky!

What a beautiful wedding last weekend with Andrea and Rocky. I really feel like I was able to capture their essence and look forward to getting their wedding movie edited. I also had the pleasure of getting to know their photographers, Dawn and Micki from Perceptions Photography. I was very impressed with their work and their ability to get just the right shots. I hope I can work with them again soon.

Next up...this Saturday's wedding with Ashley and Nelson! This wedding will be fun because I know a lot of the bridesmaids from Page's wedding I shot back in September.

Never Stop Learning!

I was fortunate enough to enroll in a one day seminar on wedding videography this last Monday. I must say that it was a great learning experience and that brings me to my latest blog topic; Never Stop Learning. Once a person thinks they know it all, they fall behind, and that goes double for businesses. I picked up some great ideas and thought processes for my future weddings and can't wait to implement them all.

Speaking of future weddings, I'll be shooting Andrea and Rocky's wedding this Saturday. Yesterday I went to visit their church with them yesterday to go over everything from church rules for videographers to where the wedding party will be standing during the ceremony. I feel that it's important to discuss all of this before the wedding so I'll be better prepared for the actual wedding day. Plus Andrea and Rocky are a lot of fun to talk to. :-) The church is beautiful and I can't wait to shoot some great video on their big day!

Gatlinburg Destination Wedding

After a week of shooting the before, during and after of a beautiful Gatlinburg wedding, I'm back with a smile on my face and some great video as well. :-) The couple is very near and dear to my heart and I am grateful to have the opportunity to be a part of the big day.

WEVA Convention!

Whew! I just got back from Vegas. I spent a week at the Wedding and Event Videographers Association convention. So much to learn and so much to experience. Of course, now there's so much to BUY! I've got a huge list of video equipment that I want to get. With each new piece of equipment I get, it means a better looking/sounding wedding, and that's what it's all about! :-) I'll fill you in on some of the neat stuff I'll be getting in the weeks ahead.

Gearing Up For Vegas, Baby!

I'm a firm believer in the idea that a person should never stop learning and growing. To take this a step further, I want to make sure that my wedding videography is constantly improving and evolving. With that in mind, I'm heading to Las Vegas next week to attend the Wedding Event & Videographers Association (WEVA) convention. This will be a great show because I'll get to learn some of the newest wedding video trends as well as rub shoulders with some of the industry's best. I plan on taking lots of notes and trading lots of business cards!

So Many Brides, So Little Time...

This bridal show was phenominal! There were so many wonderful brides to talk with in addition to a large amount of grooms! I was impressed that so many guys were there this time. I don't know, maybe they were dragged there, but the point is that they were present and asked some great questions too. I met one groom who was there at the show while his bride-to-be was across the street shopping at the mall! I salute that man! :-)

Georgia Bridal Show
